Investigating roles of social value orientation and domain knowledge in crowdsourced manuscript transcription

Abstract

Although prior literature has presented some attempts on crowdsourcing transcripts, research on how individual differences affect the cooperation level and the quality of crowdsourcing transcripts is limited. Drawing on theories of social value orientation and domain knowledge, the study proposes that participants' social value orientation and domain knowledge will have significant effects on the cooperation level and the quality of transcription in crowdsourced manuscript transcription. Meanwhile, an interaction effect will exist between social value orientation and domain knowledge.
